Alyssa Burley: Hi! This is Alyssa Burley with Rancho Mesa’s Media Communications and Client Services Department. Thank you for listening to today’s top Rancho Mesa news brought to you by our safety and risk management network, StudioOne™. Welcome back, everyone. My guest is Jeremy Hoolihan, Account Executive with Rancho Mesa. He specializes in providing insurance services to the janitorial and maintenance industry. Today, we're going to talk about how the SafetyOne™ mobile app can streamline the safety programs within the industry. Jeremy, welcome to the show.
Jeremy Hoolihan: Hi, Alyssa. It's great to be here at StudioOne™.
AB: Glad to have you. So I think this is your first time in this new studio.
JH: It is. It's great. It's a beautiful space. And I look forward to many future podcasts.
AB: Yeah, we're really excited about it. All right. So, you know, earlier this year, Rancho Mesa launched its proprietary SafetyOne™ mobile app, and feedback so far has been extremely positive, with many clients taking full advantage of the extensive resources the app provides. As someone who specializes in protecting the janitorial and maintenance industry, how has the SafetyOne™ mobile app affected your clients?
JH: Alyssa, I would concur. I've gotten a lot of positive feedback from my clients with regards to the app. They're very excited to use it. If I had to pinpoint or hone in on a few areas where I've seen some positive feedback, I'd say there's probably three main key categories. One is it improves the lines of communication between management, ownership, and the field crew. The other would be it helps prioritize safety meeting topics. And then the third would be it addresses potential safety risk before an incident can actually occur.
AB: Yeah. So let's dig a little bit deeper into each of these. How has the SafetyOne™ app improved the lines of communication?
JH: Well, what's great about the app is the management and ownership can provide push notifications to the field crew. Some examples of that would be if there's a high heat warning or if there's, you know, specific companywide news that needs to be communicated. And this can be specific to each job. So it's not just a general, you know, push notification. You know, management can do it to each location and each crew.
AB: Yeah. And that seems really important. You know, you may have a message that needs to go to one crew and not another. So even the lessons learned functionality in the app also allows those employees in the field to submit suggestions to management. So it's like a two way street. Management can send those push notifications and field employees can send suggestions back to management. So whether it's a training issue or a procedural issue or a recommended policy change, the mobile app users have an easy way to identify and submit something that should be addressed by management. And it really creates that two way communication that I mentioned earlier between management and employees, and especially for the crews who are at their clients locations and don't necessarily go into the company's office.
JH: Exactly.
AB: So how does the app encourage safety as a priority?
JH: Well, what it does is it allows the admin staff to determine what safety meeting topics are specific to each location. So as you can imagine, each location has its own set of obstacles and exposures. And so it allows them to determine and identify specific training topics that they can present to that crew. And the office staff can see safety meetings documented in real time and address those that haven't complied.
AB: So documenting the weekly safety meetings is really easy through the app. They can be done at the client's location or the company's office, wherever it makes the most sense for the crew to gather and go over things like proper lifting and other dangers on that particular job site. So how can janitorial and maintenance companies use the SafetyOne™ app to identify and address safety risks before there is an employee injury?
JH: Well, one of the nice features within the safety app is you can create job hazard analysis specific to the job site. So basically you can perform and document risk observations via the mobile app and cater it exactly to that specific site.
AB: Yeah, because we know each location is going to be different. So lastly, I do want to point out that using the SafetyOne™ app allows our clients to streamline safety programs that were once pretty cumbersome and heavily relied on manually completing paper forms and data entry into spreadsheets. So now, documentation happens only once out in the field, and it's all digital and accessible by those who need it when they need it. So, Jeremy, if listeners have questions about the SafetyOne™ app or risk management, what's the best way to get in touch with you?
