Alyssa Burley: Hi! This is Alyssa Burley with Rancho Mesa’s Media Communications and Client Services Department. Thank you for listening to today’s top Rancho Mesa news brought to you by our safety and risk management network, StudioOne™. Welcome back, everyone. My guest is Megan Lockhart, Media Communications and Client Services Coordinator with Rancho Mesa. Today, we’re going to talk about our new and some future toolbox talk features in the SafetyOne™ mobile App. Megan, welcome to the show.

Megan Lockhart: Thanks for having me.

AB: Of course. So, many of our listeners already know this, but I’d like to reiterate - we understand technology needs to evolve over time in order to stay relevant. So, we’re dedicated to ensuring that our SafetyOne™ platform is always improving and providing a better experience for the end user and administrators. We do not want our application to become stagnant, as many tend to become pretty quickly. So, we’re always looking for ways to update and improve the app to ensure our clients experience the most current risk management technology. And recently, our developers released several new features for creating and modifying toolbox talks. Megan, will you explain to our listeners what’s changed in the toolbox talks in the SafetyOne™ app?

ML: Sure. Prior to the latest update, custom toolbox talks required a title, a summary, and content in each of the fields describing why this topic is important, things to consider, and discussion items. But, we understand that not all custom toolbox talks are written in this format. Nor, do we want to force our clients to rewrite their toolbox talks to fit our format. So, we’ve changed which fields are required and how empty fields are displayed in the mobile app. Now, when creating a new toolbox talk in the administrator website, only the toolbox talk name and summary sections are required. Red boxes appear around these required sections, allowing clients to make their toolbox talks more concise, if they desire.

AB: Will the empty sections display in the mobile app?

ML: No, so, optional sections that have no content added will not appear in the mobile app nor on the toolbox talk reports.

AB: Ok, and that makes it easy to just copy and paste custom toolbox talks into the administrator website and then push them out to the mobile app without having to rewrite or reorganize the content. I know our clients are going to be happy about that. Some of them have some really good custom content that they’re using. So Megan, can you let us in on any new features that will be coming to the toolbox talks in the near future?

ML: Yeah, so, we’re planning to add QR codes for the toolbox talks. And, we expect this feature will be available in the near future.

AB: How do you anticipate QR Codes would be used for toolbox talks?

ML: Employees will have the ability to scan the QR code and sign toolbox talks on their own devices. Their signatures will then collectively display on the final toolbox talk report.

AB: Ok so, this would be helpful when you have multiple employees with mobile devices and they don’t necessarily want to pass around the foreman’s tablet or phone to collect everyone’s signatures. And, the employees can just walk up to the foreman, scan the code and then sign on their own phone.

ML: Yes, absolutely. And, this is a feature that a couple of clients have requested. So, our developers are working on adding it.

AB: Well, I’m excited that we’re able to streamline the custom toolbox talks and look forward to using the toolbox talk QR Codes when they’re available. Megan, thanks so much for joining me in StudioOne™.

ML: Of course, thank you!
