On Friday, February 17, at the Mission Valley Library, attendees gathered with notebooks and pens in hand for the “Navigating Prevailing Wage on CA Public Works Projects” workshop.
Prevailing wage has long been a challenge among California contractors working on public works projects. CFOs, controllers, and payroll staff listened as presenter Kimberly Tobin, President and CEO of Contractors Prevailing Wage Insurance Services, taught the legal and mathematical factors required for understanding prevailing wage in California.
In her presentation, Tobin covered selecting the right wage determination, completing necessary paperwork such as the DAS 140/142, and maintaining a proper audit trail. Calculating rates for individual employees is also not an easy task. Tobin explained the two formulas needed and how to complete a certified payroll report and the fringe benefit statement, to attendees.
Rancho Mesa is pleased to be able to offer learning opportunities such as these through our workshops, and we appreciate Kimberly for her time teaching our clients this often intimidating yet important topic.
